Unsung Heroes of Methodism: Thomas Webb

Though Captain Thomas Webb was one of the first Methodist preachers in America, he seemed to appear on the pages of Methodist history out of nowhere. “Unsung Heroes of Methodism” is a series that highlights lesser-known figures whose lives still impact The United Methodist Church today.

‘… and compassion for all.’

The Rev. Mel West suggests adding the word “compassion” to the U.S. Pledge of Allegiance to implant a spirit, an attitude and an action into the hearts and minds of all who recite it.

Methodists participate in movement to preserve border park

Inflation, gas prices complicate ministries

Rising prices are affecting the ministries of United Methodists, especially rural multi-point charges. Pastors also are finding the buying power of their paychecks shrinking.
