Dinner church sets table for broader ministry

Early last year, the Southeast Gwinnett Cooperative Ministry and Lawrenceville First and Cannon United Methodist churches joined together to offer a community dinner church. A year later, this Fresh Expression of church is bearing fruit.

Church honored to host first lady’s service

Glenn Memorial United Methodist Church on the campus of Emory University had the honor of holding the Nov. 28 service of tribute to Rosalynn Carter, former first lady of the United States. The Carters had a strong relationship with United Methodists over the years. The North Georgia Conference has the story.

Judge lifts North Georgia disaffiliation pause

A judge ruled from the bench that 185 North Georgia churches can proceed with The United Methodist Church’s disaffiliation process. Meanwhile, the Rio Texas Conference has filed suit against churches seeking to circumvent that process.

187 churches sue North Georgia Conference

After pausing disaffiliations, the conference is facing lawsuits filed by churches seeking to immediately leave The United Methodist Church with property. Other conferences are facing similar suits in civil courts.
