Top court backs conference on church closure

The United Methodist Church’s Judicial Council reviewed questions stemming from a controversial church closure in North Carolina. The court also issued five other rulings after its fall deliberations.

Church court reverses call for extra General Conference

The United Methodist Church’s top court has reversed course in calling for another regular session of the denomination’s lawmaking assembly between 2025 and 2027.

Rulings address LGBTQ resolution, Congo special session

The Judicial Council released rulings April 25 stemming from last fall’s jurisdictional conferences, including one dealing with a resolution on LGBTQ inclusion adopted by all five jurisdictions.

Court rules on exiting clergy and churches

The United Methodist Church’s Judicial Council weighed in on whether withdrawing clergy must surrender their credentials and other questions related to church disaffiliations.
