Bishop Sandra Steiner Ball is the resident bishop of the West Virginia Conference and one of the moderators for the Commission on a Way Forward. She filmed a series of videos for her conference members explaining various aspects of the Way Forward process and offering brief overviews of the three plans being considered by the 2019 special session of General Conference.

Steiner Ball shared those videos with UM News as part of “Seeing a Way Forward,” a video series featuring different perspectives of church leaders on the work of the Commission on a Way Forward.

NOTE: In two places in this video you will see the word Connectional Conference appear at the bottom of the screen. In these two places Bishop Steiner Ball meant to say Connectional Conference rather than Central Conference. To clarify: In the Connectional Conference Plan, the Central Conferences outside the U.S. would become Connectional Conferences identified by the region or country served. Additionally, there would no longer be geographically defined Jurisdictional Conferences in the U.S., but rather U.S. Connectional Conferences defined by theological stance.

Scouts assemble 5,000 flood buckets

West Virginia United Methodists played an important role at the 2023 Boy Scouts of America National Jamboree in Mount Hope, West Virginia. Throughout the 10-day Jamboree many of those Scouts helped assemble 5,000 flood buckets for the church’s West Virginia Conference Disaster Ministries.
