2025 West Angola Annual Conference
July 30-Aug. 3, Huambo, Angola
Did the gathering have a theme or slogan?
Methodists called to spread biblical holiness and reform the nation, in the 50 years of our independence (Leviticus 25:10).
Officiating bishop: Gaspar João Domingos
Guest speakers and memorable points or quotes by speakers
Bishop Moisés Bernardo Jungo of the East Angola Episcopal Area: “The Bible teaches us that holiness is loving God and our neighbor. We cannot spread holiness if we are not holy. Being holy means living in love with others, it is showing your good personal behavior. Our behavior is what defines whether we are holy or not. Spreading holiness has to do with our testimony. When our testimony is not correct, people do not accept our message.”
Main actions enacted by the conference:
The conference voted on constitutional amendments approved by the 2024 General Conference, including regionalization. To be ratified, the amendments need at least a two-thirds total vote of annual conference lay and clergy voters. The Council of Bishops expects to tally all votes and certify any amendment ratifications at its fall meeting in early November.
New initiatives planned by the conference:
- Kairos Radio Station: Expansion of its services by contracting correspondents in the 13 districts of the conference.
- Acquisition of transport for the flow of products from districts for sustainability.
- Creation of a church library.
- Acquiring software for membership registration.
Did your conference approve redistricting?
